In the exercise, we compared the network performance of five (5) Mobile Broadband Service Providers: Globacom, MTN, Airtel, 9Mobile and Smile. Out of the five Service Providers, our mobile devices found LTE service on Smile and Globacom only. We were on LTE in Globacom’s network 67.95% of the time and Smile network, 100% of the time.
However, Smile did not have useable coverage in a substantial part of the route covered. We were in WCDMA or EDGE in the networks of the other Service Providers.

The performance of the radio access networks of each service provider along the evaluated routes in comparison with other service providers is rated, using the following KPI weights: Connection Drop rate, 25%; Connection Setup Rate, 25% and Downlink Throughput 50%.
